Beat the heat with these pupsicle recipes for dogs! Whip up quick frozen bites for your pup and his canine pals using stuff you've already got. All you need is 5 minutes, a few ingredients, and a freezer. Going additive-free is always best. Let's dive in!

We all want our dogs to be happy, healthy, and enthusiastic about life. But what happens when yours has too much energy? Just ask Felicia, owner of a six-month-old Goldendoodle named Barnaby. “Barnaby races around the house like a maniac, grabs things he shouldn’t, and constantly pesters my older dog and us for attention,” an exasperated Felicia says. She wishes Barnaby came with an ‘off’ switch! But short of that, she—and you—can help a very active dog spend that energy productively.

Recipe #1: Banana Pupsicles (or Froyo!)

Serve fresh, semi-frozen, or frozen into pupsicles! Combine everything in a blender, food processor, or Magic Bullet. For froyo (semi-frozen), freeze the bananas an hour or two first. For pupsicles (frozen), pour into ice cube trays, freeze, and watch your dogs go nuts. You can also swap in unsweetened fruit yogurt instead of plain or vanilla, or toss in some fresh seasonal fruit like juicy berries.

Important: Never hand your dog a popsicle stick to chew. Skip the stick—use a chewable stick-shaped dog treat or a dog cookie instead, or just use an ice cube tray.
